Dec 12: Pauchi Sasaki presents ARTEMIS at Lincoln Center, David Rubenstein Atrium
*FREE* Info Here → Listen & Watch Here
THIS LOOKS GREAT! The New Latin Wave brings their popular Latine Composers Showcase to the Atrium with composer-performer Pauchi Sasaki presenting another installment of her opera ARTEMIS, a multi-year project inspired by NASA’s program to bring the first woman to the moon’s surface in 2026. Known for her interdisciplinary approach, integrating musical composition with multimedia performance, new technologies, and self-designed instruments, she invites women from all times, cultures, and territories to celebrate together and support the journey of the first woman to the moon as a multitudinous and trans-temporal coven, as a great rite of passage.
Dec 5: Marquis Hill: Composers Collective w/ Melanie Charles at LPR
Trumpeter Marquis Hill’s 2024 album Composers Collective: Beyond the Jukebox is 🔥 VERY GOOD! Inspired by the Blue Note days when the label’s artists recorded their colleagues’ tunes alongside their own, the Chicago native reached out to his own peers, asking them to write tunes with him in mind. He then invited them to join him in the recording, filtering their contributions through a pan-musical vision that recognizes all Black music - jazz, r&b, hip-hop, etc. as one long continuum. Big time bonus: Melanie Charles to open.
Dec 17: Keenan O’Meara at Union Pool
Keenan’s 2020 EP If I Could Leave is simple and beautiful. He’s an incredible folk artist and singer-songwriter with a beautiful tone and stories to tell. This show would make for a cozy night with a hot toddy at Union Pool.
Dec 19: Pitchfork Club Night at *Secret Location*
A steamy and oh so secretly located club night presented by Pitchfork and AdHoc featuring sets from RP Boo, Dazegxd b2b Intimacy Simulator, Anysia Kym, DJ Ess, Pitchfork staff Alphonse Pierre and Mano. Location to be announced via email prior to the event.
